Description
The Association of Palm Weavers of Ichilo works in five communities in the province of Ichilo in the department of Santa Cruz.
They make objects using jipijapa palm. Traditionally, weaving was a skill learned by men, but nowadays women continue preserving this craft, allowing them to support their families. Jipijapa palm weaving contributes to the economic empowerment of female artisans.
Jipijapa is a palm-like plant which is especially known for being used to make panama hats.
